It is part of the architectural knowledge, whether it is theoretical or practical, the study of the pre-existences built for the development of the critical eye, the sensitivity and the repertoire of design. This article presents the report and the results of a teaching / learning experience with two groups of students of architecture and urbanism. For educational purposes, the research that is reported here had as main objective to investigate and structure a teaching / learning approach with the use of virtual reality(VR) in teaching architecture. A procedure was developed with the use of a virtual tool for the experiment, and then this procedure was evaluated by a comparative method. The experiment was applied in two control groups, one with face-to-face access to the object of study, and the second group, with virtual access only through the tool created and accessed by 360º RV goggles. The two groups received the same information about the context and the building visited. In order to measure the degree of knowledge construction within the two groups of students, a questionnaire with questions regarding the content was applied. The results demonstrated the viability and efficiency of the virtual approach method. The experiment showed that the RV tool was efficient for the spatial comprehension of the studied object. We hope with these experimental results to delineate a playful and interactive methodology of teaching that can contribute to better learning experiences of previous or difficult to access biuldings, allowing a near real experience, thus increasing the architectural repertoire of students.
