O papel social do arquiteto e urbanista. Uma abordagem crítica e aplicada a partir da formação acadêmica
Abstract
The social function of architecture and urbanism has been explored in many aspects. Especially concerning the professional role committed with Brazilian socioeconomic, political, and cultural context. As a notion, could be interpreted as a constant formative activity. In this paper, we propose a rather specific view about the teaching and learning process and how it has been addressed in currents subjects in architecture schools, and ultimately, the relationship between the market and professional practice. This view analyses a “no-matching” relation between speech, practice and reality. We aim to understand how the process of knowledge production has been used as a domination apparatus, in theory and in practice. Thus, we concluded that the way to discuss and break the conceptual, methodological, practices and professionals’ frontiers pass through a critical view about the academic institutions. We introduce a research experience, linked to extension actions and direct interfaces with teaching. The notions of Right to the City and Citizenship pass through radical reflections. Concepts and ideas of public space, workshops for practical experiences, as the same as the relation among society, architecture and the city has been interpreted and applied under multidisciplinary guidelines. It is an open way of thinking and teaching.
