The design studios, in general, in Brazil, consist of curricular components typical of the curricular structures of the undergraduate courses in Architecture and Urbanism, being the main space of training of the designers. With an above-average workload, they articulate theory and practice, as well as environments for cognitive development, content integration, and the widening of methodological and technical repertoires. For various reasons, which may include cultural, economic and even conceptual aspects, workshops do not always preserve all these characteristics. The main objective of this article is to understand the ateliers of architecture project, with emphasis on its pedagogical sense, having as case study the reality of the Architecture and Urbanism Course of the Federal University of Campina Grande. The methodological approach adopted is of predominantly qualitative character and the results achieved allow us to conclude that the institution still strives to fit the practice of the studio through the current educational system.
