Relação entre rito e concepção arquitetônica do espaço sagrado: o caso da Capela Universitária Jesus Mestre na PUC-PR campus Curitiba
Abstract
This work describes the relation between rite and architectural conception of a sacred space. Through the systematic observation of the Jesus Mestre University Chapel, the intrinsic relation between the position and activities of the people and places was perceived. To verify and complement the observations, an interview was conducted with the architect Manoel Coelho, author of the chapel project. The study made it possible to understand the relationship between the different moments of the rite and the gestures, paths and attitudes of the people, and the characteristics of the spaces and compositional elements of the environment. The atmosphere created to give place to the ritual process gives meaning to the existence, position, form, and other qualities of each present element. The theoretical and procedural aspects of this work can contribute to similar studies in other situations and contexts.
