The objective of this article is to analyze the influence of the use of softwares Building Information Modeling (BIM) in the design process, in the discipline of Architecture Project VI. The descriptive exploratory field study was followed by the discipline and exercise carried out by the students of the eighth period in the discipline of Project VI of the course of Architecture and Urbanism at UFMS, in order to observe the benefits of using the means of representation in the design process with an emphasis on the 3D dimension of BIM. As a result, the use of BIM software by some students in the development of their project exercises has made the communication of information and project intentions clearer and more precise. It is also perceived that the innovation role of BIM software in the design process, encompasses changes regarding decision making and in the forms of project representation.
