The research presented in this paper seeks to understand and address the advantages of using Building Information Modeling (BIM) in participatory design processes by presenting and discussing the development of a collaborational platform between technicians and non-technicians in public facilities design and construction. The research motivations and the theoretical foundations that guided the development of the platform are presented, as well as the preliminary exploration and platform development process. The platform is presented and discussed, inserted in the context of the research and the theories that support it. This research is under development at Nomads.usp, Center for Interactive Living Studies, Institute of Architecture and Urbanism, University of São Paulo.
