This article presents four libraries buildings designed by architects awarded the Pritzker Prize between 2000 and 2017. The projects were represented and analyzed graphically focussing on the issues of movement of people and goods in a building. The analysis method valued the language of architectural design and results therefore contribute to the design process. Circulation is an important aspect of the design process in relation to definitions of not only the flow of people and goods through a building, but also in relation to decisions about siting, form and volume, layout, functional relations and the structural logic of projects that depend on the concept of circulation. This concept, however, is rarely detailed in the architectural program, but is part of the current fluid architecture movement. In this way the analysis of significant projects with emphasis on circulation brings important revelations to the design process and contributes valuable and unprecedented knowledge to the area of design methods.
