Law No. 11.888 established in 2008 the right to free public technical assistance in housing projects for families with a monthly income of up to three minimum wages. In this context, the Housing Improvement Program sponsored by CODHAB (Housing Development Company of the Distrito Federal) integrates this policy, funding up to R$15000,00 the development of an architectural project of improvement and its construction. This project has a limited budget, which should be addressed to solve problems related to security, habitability and accessibility issues as a matter of priority. The houses selected for the program are characterized by their qualitative deficit, making it a conciliar challenge in the project to meet the needs and desires of the families and the budget. Thus, the present work seeks to present and discuss two project practices developed in the housing improvements program, in order to promote the reflection on the existing conflicts in the practice of social housing architecture.
