Brazil builds e os concursos de arquitetura: síntese de um ciclo

Abstract

It is a brief analysis about the presence of architectural competitions in the celebrated catalogue and exposition “Brazil builds”, published in 1943. Preliminarily, the event and the publication are contextualized according to the national and international political panorama. Following, some projects from the 1930s, which took part of the catalogue, related or in conflict with competitions, are briefly commented. Finally, some reflections are presented, about the relation between expositions, publications and competitions on the disputes of “symbolic capital” in the Architecture field.
