Adaptability is experience. The world continues to transform and humans have been part of this constant process since the dawn of their existence. We believe that if humans are adaptable, architecture should also be. In this sense, this research discusses the concept of adaptability, firstly as an intrinsic characteristic of the human being, and then, how this can be understood in architecture by the Theory of Adaptability, to later explore the history of the city of Recife at the convocation of the study. Finally, as a result of the literary analysis and visits to the field, project strategies were developed along with an experimental prototype of an adaptive residence, through a methodology inspired by the studies of the Adaptable Futures Group, a structured research group at Loughborough University, at England.
