The creation of Special Zones of Social Interest (ZEIS) is an important instrument for the viability of access to urbanized land by the poorest and also for the production of housing of social interest. Law No. 11,977 of 2009, which regulated the Minha Casa Minha Vida Program, defines ZEIS as "a portion of an urban area established by the Master Plan or defined by another municipal law, intended predominantly for the housing of low-income population and subject to specific rules of installment, use and occupation of the soil ". These are areas that are part of the urban perimeter and must have infrastructure and urban services or allow the feasibility of their implementation. In this context, this article presents the experience of teaching the theme of housing of social interest in the discipline of Atelier de Proyectos I of the course of Architecture and Urbanism of the Hidden University Vila Velha / ES / Brazil, whose methodology is applied to the elaboration of integrated architecture, urbanism and landscaping in an area of social interest, having as theoretical foundation concepts related to the proposal to create ZEIS in a consolidated area, land subdivision, housing typologies and flexible housing development. As products, the students develop the projects of a subdivision destined to social housing, a linear park and the proposal of a housing typology that can be adapted to a low income family profile.
