The riverside communities of Belém suffer with the lack and / or precariousness of basic health infrastructure, mainly for urgent and emergency care, which results in patients going to the capital. The problem is that the transport to some emergency room in Belém is not fast and may be compromised by the lack of space accessibility in the physical spaces (piers and sidewalks) and in waterway transport, which inappropiate and often improvised conditions may worsen the patient's condition. Therefore, this research aims to make an analysis of the pier, stowage sidewalks and the Combu UBS in order to verify how these spaces influence the quality of life of citizens. To achieve this goal, it was necessary to combine different methodological processes. Among them, the method of Bibliographic Research having as reference concepts related to the riverside scenario and spatial accessibility. The field research with a multi-method approach - exploratory visit, participant observation and interviews - could contribute to know more about the studied environment. In this process, several problems related to spatial accessibility and urban mobility were identified. Thus, the data obtained allowed us to discuss the complexity and importance of issues related to improvements and better quality of life for riverside communities.
