The article discusses the use of public consultation online platforms that promote community participation in decision-making processes of urban intervention in public spaces. The text presents such platforms as places of public debate, considering the diversity of actors involved in bottom-up discussions and deliberations that emerge from the communication and exchange of information between public managers, technicians, and the community. The research identified and studied over 100 online platforms for citizen participation, in several parts of the world, to then identify categories and elements to be considered in the design of these platforms, based on complex thought of Edgar Morin and the Conversation theory by Gordon Pask. We understand that online platforms for citizen participation can broaden and enrich communication, towards a society more involved in political action through participatory processes based on breadth and representativeness.
