The requirement of curricularization of extension practices brought new questions and possibilities to higher education, fomenting the discussion about how these practices would be inserted theoretically and methodologically in undergraduate courses. This article relates the experience of the extensionist discipline called Ateliê Itinerante, given for the 5th semester of the Architecture and Urbanism course, which focuses on the urban design and landscaping project. From the situations reported, photos and images, testimonials from students and materials produced so far, it is proposed to reflect and dialogue about the meaning of extension for the project process and for the actors involved. It is possible to affirm that the knowledge exchange, provided by the university and community approach, allows new academic and life experiences, benefiting mainly students by the direct association between theory and practice
