| dc.description.abstract | This paper presents part of the final results of the research made about the Hotel Architecture in Northeast Brazil, done in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. In this city, which is known in Brazil as the land of the sun, sea and fresh air, we can find a great variety of hotels architectural typologies. The accelerated expansion of tourism made the number of buildings for hosting and leisure increase, putting in danger some sensitive environmental areas. The occupation of the sand dunes on the shore is a fact that we must be concerned about. Beyond that, we verified that a significant part of the hotels surveyed, even those which are situated on ecological privileged areas, don’t serve satisfactorily the humans needs of thermal comfort at hot and humid climates. The obligatory use of artificial climatization by a great number of lodgers and the need to close the windows and curtains to obtain some privacy, are some of the points of this incongruous situation. The research identifies the problems from the view of the urban and architectural thermal comfort and also shows that they can be attenuated with simple and inexpensive solutions. RESUMO: Este trabalho apresenta parte dos resultados finais de pesquisa sobre a arquitetura hoteleira no Nordeste, com estudo de caso em Natal/RN. Nesta cidade, terra do sol, mar e ar, podem ser encontrados exemplares significativos das diversas tipologias de hotéis presentes na região. A expansão desenfreada do turismo fez aumentar rapidamente o número de edificações para hospedagem e lazer, colocando em risco áreas ambientalmente sensíveis. A ocupação das dunas e falésias do litoral é fato preocupante. Além disso, constatamos que parte significativa dos hotéis avaliados, mesmo aqueles que se pretendem “regionalistas” ou “ecologicamente corretos” e que estão localizados em áreas privilegiadas, não atendem satisfatoriamente às exigências humanas de conforto térmico em climas quente e úmido. O uso obrigatório (e não por opção) de climatização e iluminação artificiais por parte da grande maioria dos hóspedes, assim como a necessidade de fechar janelas e cortinas nos apartamentos para obter alguma privacidade, são alguns dos indicadores dessa incongruência. A pesquisa não só identifica os problemas do ponto de vista do conforto ambiental urbano e arquitetônico, como também mostra que estes podem ser ao menos amenizados com soluções relativamente simples e econômicas. | pt_BR |
